The Gyeongnam East Branch of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (headed by Shim Yeonseop) has taken steps to protect the health of construction workers from the ongoing heatwave.

Inspection of Construction Sites Amid Heatwave... Gyeongnam East KOSHA Conducts Heat Illness Prevention Campaign in Miryang The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's Gyeongnam East Branch is conducting a heat-related illness prevention campaign targeting construction sites in Miryang City.

The agency announced that on August 20, it visited a construction site in Miryang City to conduct a heat-related illness prevention campaign. This event was organized to protect workers from the persistent summer heatwave and to promote broader participation in the region's "Safe Workplace Project."

The "Safe Workplace Project" is a comprehensive industrial accident prevention initiative led by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, targeting high-risk workplaces nationwide since July 23. The core objective is to raise safety standards at industrial sites by establishing a monitoring system and conducting intensive inspections and supervision.

At the site, the five basic heat safety rules (water, air/shade, rest, and cooling equipment) were actively promoted, and workers were provided with electrolyte drinks to help them stay hydrated. The focus was not just on promotion but on implementing practical preventive measures.

Shim Yeonseop, head of the branch, stated, "Adhering to the basic safety rules is more important than anything else to protect workers' lives during the ongoing heatwave," and urged, "We ask all workplaces to strictly observe the key safety rules and actively cooperate with the 'Safe Workplace Project.'"
