Sweeping Major Awards Including Best Drama and Best Actor
Netflix's 'Squid Game' won six awards at the Gold Derby TV Awards, a prominent American pop culture awards ceremony.
According to Gold Derby, an American awards prediction outlet, on August 19 (Korean time), 'Squid Game' won the Drama Series Award at this year's ceremony. The show also swept the acting categories in the drama section. It received the Ensemble of the Year award, while Lee Jungjae, who played Seong Gi-hun, won Best Actor, Kang Aesim, who portrayed Jang Geumja, won Best Supporting Actress, and Choi Seunghyun, who played Thanos, won Best Supporting Actor. Gong Yoo, who played the Ddakji Man, also received the Guest Performer Award.
Celebrating its 22nd edition this year, the Gold Derby Awards selects outstanding works and actors in drama, variety, animation, and film. This year, the judging covered broadcast content and films released in the second half of last year and the first half of this year.
