Annual Scholarship Support for Local Youth
Gwangjin-gu and Chusoyoonkang Foundation Sign Agreement to Foster Talent and Educational Welfare
Gwangjin-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) announced on the 19th that it had signed a business agreement with the Chusoyoonkang Foundation (Chairman Kim Myunghyun) on the 18th to support scholarships for local youth.
The Chusoyoonkang Foundation is a public interest corporation established in September 2023, inheriting the spirit of dedication and service to community development from the late Kim Sangtae, founder of Hyemin Hospital and former chairman, and Park Chunmae, auditor. Its main goals are to foster medical talent, advance medical research, and support the discovery and growth of talented local youth.
The signing ceremony was held at the Gwangjin-gu Office. Under the agreement, Gwangjin-gu and the Chusoyoonkang Foundation agreed to provide annual scholarships to local youth facing academic challenges due to financial difficulties. They also specifically discussed the process of identifying and recommending candidates, the criteria and amount of scholarship support, and the payment procedures. The agreement will be in effect for three years from the date of signing, after which the parties will discuss the continuation of the project and decide whether to extend it.
Separately from this business agreement, Gwangjin-gu operates its own scholarship fund, selecting and supporting local scholarship recipients every year to enhance educational welfare and foster outstanding talent.
Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, "I hope this agreement will enable young people to focus on their studies in a stable environment," adding, "We will actively support more students in pursuing their dreams by working closely with the foundation."
