Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced at a briefing on August 19 (local time) that a phone call between President Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump lasted approximately 40 minutes.
Russian state news agency TASS reported Ushakov's statement.
The agency also reported that Ushakov said both President Putin and President Trump expressed the view that direct negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations should continue.
