Department of Semiconductor and Display Engineering to Open
Employment Guaranteed Upon Admission
Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH) announced on August 18 that it will establish a “Chungnam-Style Contract Department” for the 2026 academic year to cultivate talent tailored to the key industries of South Chungcheong Province.
The newly established department will be the Department of Semiconductor and Display Engineering, operating as an industry-academia cooperation model in which the university and companies sign education and employment contracts, guaranteeing employment upon admission.
The undergraduate program will admit 40 students, while the master’s program will admit 25 students. Starting from the second year (third semester for the master’s program), students will simultaneously work at partner companies and continue their studies.
The graduation requirement for the bachelor’s degree is 120 credits, and for the master’s degree, 30 credits. Participation in company field projects is mandatory for both programs.
Full tuition support is provided for first-year undergraduates and for the first three semesters of the master’s program; after that, a 50% tuition reduction is offered. Students working at small and medium-sized enterprises can receive a total of 12 million won after graduation by participating in the “Lump Sum Savings Program.”
KOREATECH will accept applications for the undergraduate program from September 8 to 12, and for the master’s program in October. The selection process consists of a first round of document screening, followed by a second round of interviews with professors and company representatives to determine final admission.
Companies that have currently signed agreements include SFA Semiconductor Co., Ltd., Exicon Co., Ltd., Enchem Co., Ltd., YC Co., Ltd., TSE Co., Ltd., CIS Co., Ltd., and Unisle HKR Co., Ltd.
President Yoo Gil-sang stated, “The Chungnam-Style Contract Department is an innovative educational model that provides students with stable employment and supplies companies with practical talent,” adding, “We will actively foster professionals specializing in semiconductors and displays.”
