Revisiting the Gyeyujeongnan Coup:
Ambitions and Conflicts Between Brothers
Actors Kim Namgil and Park Bogum will be starring together in the film "Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land." According to the film industry on August 15, they have recently accepted the roles of Prince Suyang and Prince Anpyeong, respectively, and are preparing for filming. The movie is scheduled to begin shooting in October. Distribution will be handled by Megabox Plus M.
"Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land" is an ink and wash painting created in 1447, when Prince Anpyeong, dreaming of a utopian land, described his vision to Ahn Gyeon, who then painted it. When the painting was completed in just three days, Prince Anpyeong wrote the title and a poem on it, followed by twenty-three others, including Shin Sukju, Kim Jongseo, and Park Paengnyeon, who also inscribed their writings. The artwork is praised for its dramatic contrast between reality and the ideal world of the peach blossom land, while still maintaining a unified atmosphere. However, it currently remains stored in the Central Museum of Tenri University in Japan.
This film will focus on "Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land," evenly highlighting the ambitions of Prince Suyang and Prince Anpyeong, and reexamining the Gyeyujeongnan (the 1453 coup). Through the faces of Kim Namgil and Park Bogum, the movie will intricately portray the human anguish that arises from the imbalance between desire and reality, as well as the deep scars it leaves behind.
