The Customized Welfare Team at the Sanggye-myeon Administrative Welfare Center walked 1.5 kilometers to deliver food packages and bottled water to more than 20 residents who were isolated due to road washouts, power outages, water supply interruptions, and communication failures, ensuring their safety as they delivered the supplies.
Gapyeong LS Agency, a private agricultural machinery company, identified areas in need of help through the welfare center. Using its own tractors, the company cleared mud-covered driveways and yards for elderly households, alleviating their inconvenience. In addition, it provided a large warehouse of 150 pyeong (approximately 495 square meters) free of charge for storing damaged appliances and belongings from affected households, and offered 300 pyeong (approximately 990 square meters) of parking space for vehicles used by restoration personnel such as police, firefighters, and soldiers.
Construction equipment company Shinwon Construction provided free support of equipment such as excavators for three to four days to clear landslide debris from affected households and village access roads centered around Hangsari, actively participating in the restoration work.
Seo Taewon, head of Sanggye-myeon, stated, "Thanks to the unified efforts of private citizens and government agencies in the restoration process, we were able to quickly resolve the inconveniences faced by affected residents. This case serves as an excellent example of how vital organic cooperation between the public and private sectors is in times of disaster."
