"Morgana and Oz" and "Castle Swimmer" Also Nominated
Three works discovered by Webtoon Entertainment, the parent company of Naver Webtoon, have been nominated for the Harvey Awards, the most prestigious comic book awards in the United States.
According to the Harvey Awards website on August 13, there are a total of five nominees for the Digital Book of the Year category this year. Among them, "Mafia Nanny," "Morgana and Oz," and "Castle Swimmer" are all serialized on Webtoon, Naver Webtoon's global platform. The final winners will be announced on October 10 at New York Comic Con in the United States.
The Harvey Awards were established in 1988 to honor American cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman. Along with the Eisner Awards and the Ringo Awards, they are considered one of the three major comic book awards in the United States. The first Korean recipient was artist Kim Geumsook, who won the Best International Book award in 2020 for "Grass," which tells the stories of Korean comfort women victims. The following year, artist Ma Yeongshin's "Moms" won in the same category.
In the Digital Book of the Year category, Naver Webtoon's "Lore Olympus" won for three consecutive years, from 2021 to 2023.
