This inspection was carried out during July and August, when the risk of foodborne bacteria such as Vibrio is high, and is expected to ensure the safety of seafood, alleviate consumer concerns, and contribute to improved food hygiene.
In particular, on August 12, in cooperation with the Daegu Regional Food and Drug Administration and the Institute of Health and Environment, the county inspected the water in aquariums and raw seafood at local sashimi restaurants, restaurants near beaches, and seafood markets.
The inspections were conducted using on-site inspection vehicles and rapid testing methods. If bacteria were detected, additional seafood samples were collected for detailed testing.
As a result of the inspections, Yeongdeok County issued administrative guidance for immediate correction to establishments with minor violations, and urged business operators to maintain strict hygiene management and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "I hope that seafood distributors and business operators in Yeongdeok will pay special attention so that Yeongdeok's seafood, which is widely known and loved nationwide, can maintain its quality and hygiene standards. We will ensure thorough on-site management and inspections so that everyone can enjoy Yeongdeok's excellent seafood with peace of mind."
