The police have decided not to refer Kim Junghyun (42), head of the Anti-Communist Youth Group, for prosecution after he organized the so-called 'Baekgoldan' unit, claiming it was to prevent the arrest of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 13th that it had decided not to refer Kim's case for prosecution in May, stating that there was insufficient evidence to recognize the charge of organizing a criminal group.
The Anti-Communist Youth Group, wearing white helmets and calling themselves Baekgoldan, held rallies opposing the arrest near the former president Yoon's residence in early January and also held an official launch press conference at the National Assembly.
Baekgoldan was a plainclothes police unit established in 1985, which became synonymous with police violence at the time due to its aggressive methods of arrest.
Previously, in January, the youth group Chotbul Action filed a police complaint against Kim, accusing him of organizing a criminal group and other charges.
