"Meal Costs Start at 200,000 Won Per Guest"

Kim Seupsup (real name Kim Chaewon, 33), a well-known YouTuber who held her wedding at Shilla Hotel in Seoul this past May, has sparked attention by revealing the exact costs of her wedding. She especially surprised viewers by disclosing that the cost of flowers alone reached tens of millions of won. On August 3, Kim Seupsup uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled, "Shilla Hotel Wedding: Did Doing Everything I Wanted Cost Hundreds of Millions? First-ever Disclosure of Actual Hotel Wedding Expenses."

In the video, Kim Seupsup revealed the actual costs incurred for holding a wedding at Shilla Hotel. The venue she chose was the Shilla Hotel Dynasty Hall, which is also famous for hosting the weddings of many celebrities and business figures.

Kim Seupsup, who held her ceremony on a Sunday morning, commented that the Shilla Hotel's venue rental fee itself "is not extremely expensive." However, she pointed out that a significant amount of "additional charges" are incurred for decorating the space as a wedding hall. According to Kim, costs increase with the addition of floral decorations, beam projectors, curtains, chandeliers, live musicians, wedding cakes, and other extras.

The cost for floral decorations alone starts in the 30 million won range. Kim explained, "As of this year, the base price for flower decorations is in the 30 million won range. On average, people pay between 60 and 70 million won. Some even spend up to 100 million won." Kim revealed that she spent 61 million won on flowers, and after adding costs for curtains and other decorations, the total came to 88.6 million won.

'Additional Fees' Scarier Than the Venue Rental... Tens of Millions Spent on Flowers Alone

She went on to say that the starting price for the meal per guest is 200,000 won. "We chose a 200,000-won French meal and added wedding noodles for 10,000 won, so the cost per person was 210,000 won. We had 433 guests who dined at our wedding. Including one bottle of champagne, 64 bottles of wine, 36 soft drinks, and 5 bottles of orange juice, the total meal cost was about 90 million won. In total, the amount we paid to the venue was 196,930,962 won. We spent almost 200 million won," she said.

Kim Seupsup added, "The official information they provide seems to be calculated at the minimum cost. They say, 'You can have a Shilla Hotel wedding for just over 100 million won,' but there are so many additional charges. Compared to the initial estimate, we went over by about 70 million won. Even if you don't add extra flowers and go with the minimum, it still comes to the mid-to-high 100 million won range."

She continued, "Including the dress and wedding favors, the total amount we spent on the wedding was about 300 million won. This does not include the cost of wedding jewelry or the honeymoon. I'm not sharing this to brag, but for those who are making similar choices or are curious about how much a hotel wedding actually costs. No one has ever explained it clearly until now. I filmed this to be helpful to such people, so I hope it won't be viewed negatively."

Viewers who watched the video responded with comments such as, "This really is another world," "I was curious because there was so little information, thank you," "This is the first YouTuber to explain it in such detail," "I was shocked at the price, but after seeing the venue, I understand," "I want to get married at a hotel too," "Spending hundreds of millions for a brief wedding is wild," and "The flower costs are unbelievable," among many other reactions.
