Woo Wonsik, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chung Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party, Park Jiwon, member of the National Assembly, Kim Youngrok, governor of Jeonnam Province, Shin Woochul, Wando County governor, and Kim Yanghun, chairman of the Wando County Council, attended the event together to promote abalone consumption.

The event was organized to prepare for potential aquaculture damage caused by high water temperatures and to boost abalone consumption. At the venue, prepared abalone was sold at prices lower than the market rate, and booths offered tastings of various abalone dishes, including abalone grilled with butter, steamed abalone, abalone mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), abalone skewers, and abalone salad.

Abalone from Wando, grown in clean seas, is rich in vitamins, iron, calcium, potassium, and protein, making it a representative health food known for restoring energy and strengthening immunity. As part of its support project for developing abalone-based restaurant menus, the county collaborated with the snack franchise "Yamsaem Gimbap" to introduce abalone snack menu items, which are now being sold at stores nationwide as part of its promotional efforts.

Governor Shin Woochul stated, "Because preparing abalone shells can be cumbersome, some people are reluctant to consume abalone. We are developing a variety of prepared abalone and processed products," adding, "We will work to develop new sales channels so that Wando abalone, which is outstanding in both taste and nutrition, is widely consumed and helps increase fishermen's incomes."
