Jinhae District and Busan Port Authority Sign Business Agreement for 'Visiting Social Contribution Project' to Address Issues in Areas Near the Port.
The 'Visiting Social Contribution Project' has been promoted by the Busan Port Authority since 2021 in cooperation with four local governments?Jung-gu, Dong-gu, Yeongdo-gu, and Nam-gu in Busan?as well as welfare institutions, with the aim of eliminating welfare blind spots and fostering coexistence among residents in areas near the port. With this agreement, Jinhae District has now been newly included in the project.
Under the agreement, the Busan Port Authority will provide Jinhae District with annual support of 15 million won, and Jinhae District plans to use these funds to implement welfare programs tailored to the needs of the local community.
In particular, in 2025, the 'Dreaming Space Support for Low-Income Children' project will improve the residential and learning environments of 10 to 15 children from vulnerable housing backgrounds, with up to 1.5 million won allocated per child. From September, the project will be fully implemented, starting with a survey of needs and the selection of beneficiaries.
At the agreement ceremony, Song Sangkeun, President of the Busan Port Authority, said, "I hope that children in poor learning environments will be able to grow up healthy and pursue their dreams through this project," adding, "We will continue to actively support social contribution projects that the local community needs."
Jung Hyunseop, Head of Jinhae District Office, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate the interest and generous support shown by the Busan Port Authority for Jinhae District," and added, "With this agreement as an opportunity, we will steadily implement customized welfare projects for vulnerable groups and create new value for the local coexistence welfare model."
Meanwhile, in 2023, the Busan Port Authority became the first in Gyeongnam to install a 'Hope Pantry' sharing refrigerator at the Jinhae Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and has also been practicing community sharing every year by making designated in-kind donations for Jinhae residents.
