Immediately after the collision, the vehicle caught fire, but the blaze was extinguished within approximately 20 minutes.


As a result of the accident, a woman in her 70s who was seated in the passenger seat died, while a man in his 70s who was in the driver's seat is currently receiving hospital treatment but remains unconscious.


According to fire authorities, after the collision, the interior of the vehicle quickly filled with smoke, trapping both the driver and the passenger inside. Firefighters, who responded to the emergency call, initially brought the fire under control at 7:08 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 7:13 a.m.


During the operation, firefighters extinguished the engine compartment fire and then opened the vehicle doors to carry out the rescue. The driver, a man in his 70s, suffered burns to his upper body and was transported to a hospital in Uijeongbu in a semi-conscious state.


A total of nine fire trucks and other vehicles, along with 24 personnel, were deployed to the scene. Police and fire authorities are investigating whether a vehicle defect was involved and are working to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
