Gimpo City Leads Change for Youth: Empowerment, Challenge, and Growth
Comprehensive Support to Foster Talented Individuals with Both Skills and Emotional Energy
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 13 that it is recruiting participants for the September session of the "Youth Growth Project" program for the second half of 2025, aimed at supporting youth capacity building and career development.
The "Youth Growth Project" is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Employment and Labor and local governments, providing youth-friendly infrastructure and programs to unemployed youth and others. To implement the project, the city has established a "Rest Area" at the Youth Support Center, transforming it into a multi-purpose space where young people can relax and prepare for employment or entrepreneurship.
For the August session, the city is offering three programs: "Basic Employment Training (using ChatGPT, resume writing, self-introduction letter)," "AI Music Composition," and "Youth Financial Planning for a Better Future."
The September session will include: ▲Cultural Activities: Eucalyptus wreath making, caring for autumn tree gardens (Time for Self-Care) ▲Employment and Job Skills: Career Growth Class (Baking and Pastry A, B), Advanced Employment Training (Interview Speech), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) ▲Independent Living: Youth Meal Table (One-Meal Class A, B). The courses will begin sequentially starting September 2.
Eligible applicants are young people aged 19 to 39 who reside in Gimpo City, and the application period runs until August 29. Applications can be submitted through the Gimpo City Lifelong Learning Integrated Platform and the Employment 24 Youth Growth Project website.
A Gimpo City official stated, "The Youth Growth Project will serve as a strong foundation for young people to enter society stably and realize their dreams," adding, "We hope many young people will actively participate and experience new challenges and growth."
Meanwhile, starting this year, Gimpo City has transitioned the operation of the Gimpo Youth Support Center to direct management, receiving positive responses from a diverse range of youth through more effective education. Program hours have been significantly expanded to evenings and weekends. In addition, the city has shifted its focus from short-term cultural and leisure programs under previous private consignment management to intensive programs aimed at strengthening employment and entrepreneurship capabilities and certification courses. To further improve accessibility, starting in August, pilot hub programs are being offered in the Tongjin, Janggi, and Gochon areas, driving growth through these user-centered changes.
