Home Medical Services Delivered to Households in Need of Home Visits
Integrated Community Care Pilot Project Expands Access for Eunpyeong-gu Residents
Public-Private Cooperation Aims to Support Aging Society with Quality Care
On August 13, Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Kim Mikyung) announced that it has been selected for the third consecutive year in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Home Medical Center for Long-Term Care Pilot Project" and is currently promoting home-visit medical services and integrated community care.
At the end of last year, the district renewed its "Mutual Exchange and Cooperation Agreement" with Sallim Medical Welfare Social Cooperative Sallim Clinic to ensure the smooth implementation of the pilot project.
The "Home Medical Center for Long-Term Care Pilot Project" involves a multidisciplinary team-including doctors, nurses, and social workers-visiting the homes of long-term care recipients who have difficulty moving and therefore cannot easily visit medical institutions. The team provides integrated services, including one home visit by a doctor per month, two nursing visits per month, and other care services. Any resident of Eunpyeong-gu who has difficulty moving and requires a home visit, even if they do not have a long-term care rating, can apply for a home visit.
Through the operation of this pilot project, the district aims to help residents continue living in their communities by receiving ongoing integrated care and medical services at home, rather than in hospitals.
In particular, ahead of the nationwide implementation of the "Integrated Care Support Act" on March 27 next year, the district reorganized its structure this January-becoming the first in Seoul to establish the "Care Welfare Bureau" and to create the "Integrated Care Division"-thereby laying the foundation for the Eunpyeong-style integrated care initiative.

Kim Mikyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "We expect that the pilot project for the Home Medical Center will greatly improve access to medical care for those who have difficulty visiting hospitals," and added, "We will do our utmost to provide high-quality integrated care services through public-private cooperation so that we can respond effectively to a super-aged society."
