On August 13, Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province announced that Gangcheon Healing Spa, which has enjoyed steady popularity since its opening, is gaining recognition as a leading tourist attraction in the region.

Gangcheon Healing Spa, which opened in April 2022, surpassed a cumulative total of 550,000 visitors in just over three years. In its first year, 2022, approximately 150,000 people visited, followed by about 166,000 in 2023, and 156,000 in 2024. As of July this year, 70,000 visitors have already come, demonstrating the spa's unwavering popularity.
Gangcheon Healing Spa is a multi-purpose resort facility with a total area of 2,904.57 square meters. It features indoor amenities such as the Healing Nuri Room, Doban Bath Room, and Foot Bath Caf?, as well as an outdoor "Hot Spring Garden" that includes a hot spring foot bath, a cave-type experience center, and the Gangcheon drinking water intake facility, offering visitors a unique healing experience.
In particular, the Healing Nuri Room on the first floor-one of the spa's core facilities-has become a popular destination for summer vacationers during the peak season. With a refreshing spa and pool, an open-air bath with a sense of spaciousness, and a sauna that also promotes health, the spa is drawing attention as a summer retreat for those looking to beat the heat.
The popularity of Gangcheon Healing Spa goes beyond its success as a tourist destination and is contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. The steady increase in outside visitors has led to a noticeable rise in sales at nearby accommodations and restaurants, as well as increased sales of Sunchang County's specialty products.
Additionally, the recruitment of staff needed for facility operations and service provision is creating new jobs in the region, generating positive ripple effects throughout the local community.
