SK Innovation Earns 'AAA' Rating in Global ESG Assessment

Sequential Rise from BBB to A, AA, and AAA Since 2021 ESG Commitment
Achieves Top-Tier Status in Domestic and Global Energy Sectors

SK Innovation has received the highest possible rating of 'AAA' in the 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assessment by global ESG rating agency Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). This places the company among the top ranks in both the domestic and international energy sectors.

Since declaring its commitment to ESG management in 2021, SK Innovation has rapidly improved its rating from BBB to A, maintaining an A rating for three consecutive years. The company advanced to AA in 2024 and has now achieved AAA this year. Positive evaluations were given across all areas, including greenhouse gas and hazardous substance reduction, waste management, enhanced safety and environmental management at all business sites, strengthened independence and expertise of the board of directors, and anti-corruption and ethical management.

In the environmental category, efforts to reduce waste and hazardous substances were evaluated. In the social category, obtaining international certifications for safety, health, and environment (SHE) policies and applying these standards to partner companies were taken into account. In governance, strengthening the expertise and independence of outside directors had a positive impact.

The MSCI ESG assessment covers more than 8,500 listed companies worldwide and serves as a key reference for global investment decisions. SK Innovation stated that this rating increases the likelihood of attracting new investments as well as expanding existing ones.
