Top 30 in FedEx Cup to Advance to Final Tour Championship
Sungjae Im at 25th, Siwoo Kim at 41st Aim for a Spot in the Finals

Sungjae Im and Siwoo Kim are aiming to advance together to the final round.


From August 14 (local time), the two will compete in the second round of the PGA Tour Playoffs, the BMW Championship (total prize money: $20 million), held over four days at Caves Valley Golf Club (par 70, 7,601 yards) in Owings Mills, Maryland, USA. Although 50 top-ranked players in the FedExCup were scheduled to participate, with Sepp Straka of Austria (ranked 5th) withdrawing due to family reasons, the actual number of competitors this week is 49. After this tournament, only the top 30 in the FedExCup standings will advance to the final round of the playoffs, the Tour Championship, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, starting August 21.

Among Korean players, only Sungjae Im and Siwoo Kim remain. Sungjae Im, the leading figure in Korean men's golf, is aiming to qualify for the Tour Championship for the seventh consecutive year. Since 2019, he has competed in the Tour Championship, which is regarded as a symbol of being among the PGA Tour's elite, through last year. This season, he entered the playoffs ranked 29th in the FedExCup standings and improved his ranking to 25th after finishing tied for 17th in the first round, the FedEx St. Jude Championship.


Siwoo Kim is seeking a return to the Tour Championship for the first time in two years. He entered the playoffs ranked 46th in the FedExCup standings and finished tied for 14th in the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He is currently ranked 41st in the FedExCup. To reach the Tour Championship, he must achieve a high finish at the BMW Championship.
