An opportunity to learn and experience windsurfing for free while enjoying the refreshing breeze on the beautiful Jeju sea is being offered.

On August 12, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced that the '2025 Jeju Marine Leisure Sports Festival' will be held at Iho Beach for five days from August 13 to 17.

This festival, now in its fourth year, offers visitors the chance to try a variety of marine leisure sports. In addition to windsurfing, free lessons and experiences are available for paddleboarding, surfing, kayaking, and dinghy sailing. The lessons will be led by marine leisure sports experts, including sports instructors and instructors from the Korea Windsurfing Association.

On the final day of the festival, August 17, there will be a board paddling competition and a sailing competition. Anyone who has participated in lessons during the festival can take part in these events.

Last year, more than 600 residents and tourists experienced marine leisure sports during the six-day festival. This year, even greater participation is expected. The province accepted registrations for marine leisure sports experiences and competition participation until August 10, and on-site registration is now available.

Oh Sangpil, Director of the Jeju Provincial Department of Oceans and Fisheries, stated, "This festival is being held in an eco-friendly manner by using non-motorized water leisure equipment that emits no carbon," and added, "Since many tourists and residents are expected to participate, we will prioritize safety and make thorough preparations."

Meanwhile, Jeju Province's strategy of opening beaches earlier than usual this year appears to be successful. The number of visitors to Iho Beach, where the festival will take place, increased by 86.7% compared to the previous year. As of the end of last month, a total of 614,308 tourists and residents visited 12 beaches across the province, marking a 22.5% increase year-on-year.
