370 Participants to Be Selected by Random Draw
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is accepting applications for the '2025 Student Horseback Riding Support Program' until August 26.
According to the city on August 12, this recruitment aims to foster emotional development among youth and promote healthy leisure activities. A total of 370 participants will be selected, including 350 for the general horseback riding program and 20 for the social welfare horseback riding program.
Applications can be submitted through the Hospia website. Participants will be selected by random draw, not on a first-come, first-served basis. The results of the draw will be available for individual confirmation on the same website on August 28.
The horseback riding experience consists of 10 sessions, covering theoretical education, getting acquainted with horses, leading horses, and basic riding lessons. The city has reduced the personal contribution for general participants from the previous 30% (96,000 KRW) to 20% (64,000 KRW). Participants eligible for the social welfare horseback riding program, such as recipients of basic living support, those in the lower income bracket, and multicultural families, can participate free of charge.
The program will be conducted at 'Western Springs,' which has extensive experience in horseback riding instruction. Participating students will join the program after enrolling in insurance to prepare for potential safety accidents. The actual experience sessions are scheduled to run from early next month through December.
Shin Kihwan, head of the Livestock Division, stated, "The horseback riding experience provides students with a unique opportunity, and it is expected to have positive effects such as emotional stability, social development, and improved self-control through interaction with animals."
