Selected for Gyeonggi Province's 'Commercial District-Friendly City' Project
Replacement of Outdated Fire Safety Facilities for Fire-Prone Businesses
On August 12, the city of Ansan in Gyeonggi Province announced that the Ansan Commercial District Revitalization Foundation has been selected as a project site in the '2025 Commercial District-Friendly City Development Project' contest, which is organized by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi-do Market Commercial District Promotion Agency.
The 'Commercial District-Friendly City Development Project' is a competitive policy initiative that, over the next three years until 2027, will comprehensively support local cities and counties in the province by considering the current state of their commercial districts and providing assistance in areas such as ▲improving the commercial environment, ▲developing promotional content for commercial districts, and ▲establishing a foundation for mutual growth.
In this contest, the Ansan Commercial District Revitalization Foundation was selected as a 'Type I' city or county, which targets municipalities with commercial district revitalization organizations, and will proceed with the first-year project.
A total of 590 million won will be invested in the project, with 290 million won from the provincial government and 300 million won from the city. Through this project, the city plans to focus on improving the business environment for single-owner small business owners who have been excluded from support due to difficulties in participating in programs such as the Merchant Academy, thereby addressing blind spots in small business support.
Additionally, the city plans to create safer commercial districts by replacing and installing fire safety facilities and distributing fire extinguishers, with a focus on businesses that are vulnerable to fire, such as bedding, clothing, and furniture stores, as well as aging commercial areas.
Lee Minguen, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "We will continue to work with the foundation to create a safe and vibrant commercial district environment that small business owners can truly experience."
