Sejong City Sports Council Visits Armed Forces Athletic Corps for Young Athletes' Advanced Training Program

The Sejong City Sports Council will operate a "Sports Benchmarking Program" for three days from August 12 to August 14 at the Armed Forces Athletic Corps located in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province. This is the first time such a program has been held since the council was established.

The program targets about 30 middle school student athletes in track and field and wrestling. According to officials, it was designed to enhance the athletes' performance and motivation. The main activities will focus on experiencing the systematic training system of the Armed Forces Athletic Corps and participating in one-on-one, single-point lessons with professional athletes and specialized sports instructors affiliated with the corps.

The council plans to implement various programs to strengthen the capabilities of young athletes and expand the base of professional sports. These include domestic benchmarking visits to advanced sports facilities, support for training equipment, and inviting specialized sports instructors for disciplines that do not have school sports teams.

Oh Youngcheol, president of the Sejong City Sports Council, stated, "This will be an opportunity for the athletes to experience advanced training environments and take their skills to the next level." He added, "Next year, we plan to expand the program to include more sports so that a greater number of athletes can benefit."
