Family-Friendly Online Education Program
for Public Officials Raising Children
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam recently held a 'Family-Friendly Education for Employees Raising Children.'
The training, conducted on August 9, involved 32 participants from 15 families, each with children aged 3 to 8. The program was offered in real-time online format to allow entire families to participate in child-rearing activities during the children's summer vacation, strengthen family bonds, and address the difficulty of meeting in-person training hours due to parenting responsibilities.
The three-hour session included activities such as Opening Hearts, Parental Education on the Impact of Angry Parents on Children, and a Mini Sports Day with Children. The curriculum covered topics such as 'Different vs. Wrong,' a three-step emotional regulation exercise, practicing speaking without anger, and enjoyable play activities with children, all designed to enhance family intimacy.
In particular, the Mini Sports Day received an enthusiastic response, as it allowed families to learn rules and cooperate through simple games at home, while also providing opportunities for emotional communication through natural physical contact.
Jung Sookyi, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, stated, "Practical education that can be implemented in daily life will help foster a child-friendly organizational culture, which is essential to overcoming the low birthrate crisis." She added, "We will continue to support work-life balance so that employees can maintain a stable family life and focus on their duties."
Meanwhile, Changwon City's 'Stroller Project' initiative is implementing a range of policies, including expanding eligibility for childbirth congratulatory welfare points (KRW 1 million per child), providing allowances for employees covering for those on maternity or parental leave, and offering flexible work arrangements to support child-rearing, in addition to online family-friendly education for public officials raising children.
