Providing Nutritious Meals for Local Children and Adolescents
Haman County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on August 11 that it is operating the "Haman Friend Thousand-Won Meal" program during this summer vacation to support healthy eating habits among local youth.
The "Haman Friend Thousand-Won Meal" program, held during school breaks, is a specialized initiative by the county aimed at providing affordable lunches to children and adolescents, including those from dual-income families. The goal is to address concerns about meal skipping and to ensure that young people can enjoy safe and balanced meals.

In particular, the program focuses on reducing the childcare burden during the vacation period, a time when care gaps are more likely to occur, so that parents can concentrate on their work with peace of mind.
During this summer vacation, children and adolescents in the county can enjoy a variety of lunch menu options for just 1,000 won at the Haman County Youth Training Center and the Haman County Youth Culture House. The program also places strong emphasis on providing balanced nutrition and maintaining high standards of hygiene.
Cho Geunje, the governor of Haman County, stated, "The 'Haman Friend Thousand-Won Meal' during the school break is more than just a meal support program; it is part of a community care initiative for the healthy growth of our youth. We will continue to create an environment where children, adolescents, and parents can feel secure through demand-oriented welfare policies."
Meanwhile, the "Haman Friend Thousand-Won Meal" program, which was first launched in 2024, has received a very positive response from children, adolescents, and parents. It is expected to continue operating during every school break in the future, contributing to the improvement of child and youth welfare.
