Education for Fintech, Security Token Offerings (STO), and Virtual Asset Experts...
From Startups to Industry-Academic Cooperation, a "One-Stop" Solution
The landscape of the financial industry is undergoing rapid transformation due to the institutionalization of virtual assets, the issuance of security token offerings (STO), financial analysis using artificial intelligence (AI), and the spread of decentralized finance (DeFi).
On August 11, Hoseo University’s Department of Digital Finance and Management announced that it is nurturing next-generation financial professionals through practical training based on blockchain, AI, and big data in response to these changes.
According to Hoseo University, this department was newly established based on the expertise of the university’s renowned Department of Digital Technology Management, a leader in management of technology (MOT) education.
The curriculum is practice-oriented and directly reflects real-world projects in the financial sector, such as building blockchain payment systems, developing abnormal transaction detection models, and simulating digital asset investments.
The specialized student club “Decryptors” conducts hands-on training in the latest fintech fields, including Ethereum smart contract analysis, blockchain network verification, and DeFi projects, and actively participates in nationwide competitions and collaborations with external organizations.
The mentoring team consists of current professionals in digital finance, blockchain, and virtual assets from companies such as LG CNS, Samsung SDS, Hanyang Securities, IBM, Financial Security Institute, and DB Insurance. They provide industry insights and practical know-how, and also support individual students in planning their career paths.
Hoseo University supports digital asset-based business models, blockchain payment service development, and fintech startup planning through its on-campus business incubator and accelerator.
This enables a “one-stop” process from idea conception to prototype development, commercialization, and investment attraction.
In particular, leveraging the establishment of the nation’s first AI college and achievements from the Ministry of Science and ICT’s software-focused university initiative, students can gain hands-on experience in core digital finance technologies such as financial data analysis, AI predictive modeling, big data processing, and blockchain implementation.
The department organizes blockchain-AI convergence forums and virtual asset abnormal transaction detection training, and has strengthened industry-academic cooperation with companies such as Shinhan Investment, Hana Bank, Interezen, and Coinplug. Students gain practical experience before graduation by participating in field internships and corporate projects.
Kang Sora, head of the Department of Digital Finance and Management, emphasized, “Convergent talent who understands both finance and technology is essential in the era of digital finance,” adding, “Hoseo University will become a strategic hub for cultivating experts in security token offerings, blockchain, and fintech by reflecting the pace of industry change in its education.”
