Immediate Payment of Support Funds Upon Victim Confirmation
Application Documents to Be Simplified
Geumcheon District in Seoul (District Mayor Yoo Seonghun) has launched a pilot operation of the "Jeonse Damage Support Immediate Assistance Service" to provide prompt support for victims of Jeonse fraud.
The "Immediate Assistance Service" is a pre-booking system for Jeonse fraud support funds, which allows victims to receive the funds without any additional procedures once their victim status is confirmed. When visiting the district housing department and expressing the intention to apply for support funds (1 million won for litigation expenses or 500,000 won for housing stability support), the funds are automatically disbursed as soon as the victim status is officially determined. Previously, a separate application was required after the victim status was confirmed.
The district stated, "We have improved the procedures to reduce the psychological and administrative burden caused by Jeonse fraud," and added, "Based on the results of the pilot operation, we will reconsider expanding the program and revising the implementation methods." In addition, starting next month, the district will simplify the required documents for applying for support funds. Currently required documents, such as the resident registration abstract and proof of not owning a home, may be exempted.
Meanwhile, the district is operating a dedicated team to prevent and recover from damage, providing tailored administrative services such as counseling and damage reporting.
Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon District, said, "This is a good example of administrative services that residents can truly feel," and added, "We will do our best to provide prompt and systematic support to restore housing stability for residents affected by Jeonse fraud."
