During his opening remarks at the high-level party-government consultation meeting held that afternoon at the Prime Minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Prime Minister Kim said, "I congratulate Representative Cheongrae Jeong of the Democratic Party of Korea on his election and the launch of the new leadership system." This high-level party-government meeting was the first to be held since Representative Jeong took office.
Prime Minister Kim went on to say, "To achieve our shared goals of overcoming internal strife, ensuring public stability, and restoring growth, we will work together, meticulously coordinating both reforms and economic policy." He added, "We will lay the foundation for a new leap forward in reform and economic recovery, keeping in mind the historical principle that only when the responsible forces are united can we achieve success both today and tomorrow."
Prime Minister Kim also said, "I would like to thank the people who have supported the President's administration during the first two months of governance without a transition committee, as well as the party that has provided support." He continued, "I ask for the nation's bipartisan support in the first year of the administration, so that state affairs can be placed firmly on a stable track."
