SH Benchmarks Australian Water Bus Know-how... Accelerates Hangang Bus Operation Preparations

Visit to Australia Ahead of Next Month's Official Launch
Acquiring On-Time Operation Management and Boarding Technology

Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) announced on August 7 that it visited the operational site of the 'City Cat' water bus in Brisbane, Australia, ahead of the official launch of the Hangang Bus service.

This visit was organized to study Brisbane's accumulated know-how in on-time operation services, vessel docking technology, safety management systems, and pier facilities, with the aim of applying these insights to the operation of the Hangang Bus.

The inspection team visited Manly Harbour and East Coast Marina, Brisbane's representative mooring facilities, to examine the vessel mooring and management systems. They also explored ways to enhance the connectivity between water transportation and waterfront sites by visiting successful waterfront developments such as Powerhouse and Howard Smith Wharves.

In addition, the team boarded the City Cat during commuting hours to learn on-site from the crew about on-time operation management methods and docking technology for boarding and disembarking processes. They also met with RiverCity Ferries, the City Cat operator, and the Brisbane City Council's transportation team to learn operational know-how in areas such as operation control, facility maintenance, and disaster response systems.

Hwang Sangha, President of SH, stated, "Through this visit, we have acquired advanced overseas know-how accumulated over the past 30 years and identified practical improvements needed for the operation of the Hangang Bus. We will do our utmost to ensure that the Hangang Bus becomes a safe and pleasant means of transportation that enriches the daily lives of Seoul citizens."

Meanwhile, the Seoul Hangang Bus is scheduled to begin official operations next month, running at 15-minute intervals during commuting hours between the seven piers of Magok, Mangwon, Yeouido, Oksu, Apgujeong, Ttukseom, and Jamsil.
