Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province opened the "Jeonbuk Overseas Koreans Residency Support Center" on the 4th to support the stable settlement of overseas Koreans in the region.
According to Jeonbuk Province on August 6, the establishment of this center was made possible after Jeonbuk Province was selected in April for the "Regional Overseas Koreans Settlement Support Project" hosted by the Overseas Koreans Agency. The center will be operated on a trial basis until December.

The center is operated by the Jeonbuk International Cooperation Agency and is located within the "Jeonbuk Foreign Workers Support Center" on the 6th floor of the Jeonju Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A dedicated consultation room for overseas Koreans has been set up to serve as a hub for residency consultations and settlement support.
The center plans to provide customized services to ensure the stable settlement of overseas Koreans in Jeonbuk. These services include free consultations with experts in law, labor, and administration; interpretation and translation services; and support for establishing living infrastructure such as real estate and administrative matters.
In addition, the center will launch official SNS (Instagram, Facebook) accounts to promote major projects and will regularly post card news introducing the migration backgrounds and cultures of overseas Koreans, aiming to broaden understanding and empathy among local residents.
The center also plans to organize field trips where participants can experience Jeonbuk's history and industries, helping overseas Koreans deepen their understanding of the region and strengthen their connections with the local community.
Currently, there are about 4,000 overseas Koreans residing in Jeonbuk Province, and the demand for policies targeting foreigners and immigrants continues to increase.
Some of these individuals still remain in blind spots of institutional support, making it urgent to establish practical support measures such as facilitating changes in residency status.
Baek Kyungtae, Director of External and International Communication for Jeonbuk Province, said, "Through the operation of the center, we will establish a foundation for social integration between local residents and overseas Koreans and will continue to support the stable settlement of overseas Koreans in Jeonbuk."
