"Kia Labor and Management Jointly Declare: Let's Create a Safe Workplace"

Declaration Ceremony Held at Autoland Gwangmyeong on August 6

Kia announced on August 6 that it held a "Joint Labor-Management Safety and Health Declaration Ceremony for Creating a Safe Workplace" at Autoland Gwangmyeong, with representatives from both labor and management in attendance.

The ceremony was attended by 16 labor-management officials, including Kia Chief Safety and Health Officer (CSO) Junyoung Choi and Haimbong Haem, head of the Kia Motors branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union.

During the declaration, Kia's labor and management made clear their commitment to making safety the top priority and to eradicating all major industrial accidents, including those affecting partner companies.

Kia's labor and management pledged to realize core safety values through cooperation, including: practicing the principle of safety first; focusing capabilities on identifying and improving risk factors; implementing safety management as a key element of ESG management; and promoting safety and health and establishing a culture of safety.

In addition, in line with government policies to prevent serious accidents, Kia's labor and management included the following concrete measures in the declaration: strengthening cooling systems to prevent heat damage; expanding the application of smart safety technologies such as the industrial wearable robot "Xble Shoulder" and AI-based warning systems; operating customized safety support programs for partner companies; introducing the joint labor-management safety character "Suho"; and conducting various safety culture activities.

A Kia official stated, "We held this safety declaration ceremony to enhance the effectiveness of safety measures and to make our implementation plans more concrete," adding, "We will strive to ensure that not only labor and management, but also our partner companies, fulfill their responsibilities together so that a sustainable safety culture can take root."
