The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) will newly recruit 784 public kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and special education teachers for the 2026 academic year.
On the morning of August 6 at 10:00 a.m., the Office announced the preliminary notice for the 2026 public elementary, special (kindergarten/elementary), and secondary school teacher recruitment exams on its website. This preliminary notice includes information on the following changes: the subjects and number of positions to be recruited, whether there will be separate recruitment for persons with disabilities, the exam schedule, the criteria for reflecting the Korean History Proficiency Test, and changes to the test scope and practical evaluation.
The planned number of recruits is as follows: 276 elementary school teachers, 10 special kindergarten teachers, and 21 special elementary school teachers, totaling 307; 412 secondary school subject teachers, 23 health teachers, 2 librarians, 18 professional counselors, 10 nutrition teachers, and 12 special (secondary) teachers, totaling 477. The number of secondary school teachers has decreased compared to last year. These numbers may be subject to change depending on the results of the Ministry of Education's staffing allocation in the second half of the year.
The detailed implementation plan for the recruitment exams will be announced on the Office's website on September 10 for elementary and special (kindergarten/elementary) teachers, and on October 1 for secondary school teachers. Applications will be accepted online through the teacher recruitment system from September 22 to 26 for elementary and special (kindergarten/elementary) teachers, and from October 13 to 17 for secondary school teachers. The first written exams are scheduled to be held on November 8 and 22, respectively.
An official from the Office stated, "We have calculated the required personnel by reflecting changes such as teacher retirements (regular and honorary) and fluctuations in the number of students," and added, "We will conduct a fair and transparent recruitment exam through thorough preparation."
