"No Contact Received from Hacker Group"
On August 5, SGI Seoul Guarantee stated, "Regarding the system failure that occurred last month, there has been no evidence so far of any large-scale internal information, including customer data, being leaked."
This statement refutes the claim made by the ransomware group that attacked SGI Seoul Guarantee the previous day, asserting that they had stolen as much as 13.2 terabytes (TB) of internal data.
Hackmanac, a security company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the 'Gunra' hacking group claimed responsibility for the SGI cyberattack and asserted that they possess 13.2TB of Oracle database data. Gunra is believed to be the ransomware used in the hacking attack on SGI Seoul Guarantee.
In response, SGI Seoul Guarantee maintains that there is no indication that large volumes of internal information have been exfiltrated. It has also been reported that the company has not received any direct communication from the hacker group or related organizations.
An SGI Seoul Guarantee representative said, "From the early stages of the system failure, we have been analyzing the cause of the incident and the possibility of internal data leakage in cooperation with relevant security agencies. If it is later confirmed that sensitive information such as customer data has been leaked, we will transparently share information with relevant authorities and promptly take necessary actions in accordance with applicable laws and information security protocols."
