In Hampyeong County, South Jeolla Province, which recently suffered significant damage from heavy rainfall, support for recovery efforts has been pouring in from all sectors, including the military, police, civic organizations, and businesses, highlighting the spirit of community.


According to Hampyeong County on August 5, approximately 400 people have been mobilized for the recovery operations. This includes about 200 county officials, 20 officers from Hampyeong Police Station, 40 firefighters from Hampyeong Fire Station, 115 officers from the Jeonnam Provincial Police Mobile Unit, and 37 soldiers from the 8332nd military unit.


In addition, groups such as the Hampyeong County Volunteer Fire Brigade, Hampyeong County Red Cross Volunteer Association, Hampyeong County Women's Volunteer Association, Hampyeong County Saemaeul Association, Hampyeong County and Seogwangju Rotary Clubs, the Democratic Party of Korea, Jeonnam Credit Guarantee Foundation, and the Korea Small Enterprise and Market Service have also contributed to the flood recovery efforts.


Businesses have also extended their helping hands. Samsung Electronics dispatched a special disaster recovery service team, while LG Electronics also provided flood assistance. Kumdo Construction, a local construction company, supported the recovery operations by providing dump trucks, excavators, and heavy equipment.


Participants were deployed to designated affected areas from 7 a.m., engaging in a wide range of recovery activities such as removing debris, cleaning up waste, restoring flooded homes, and conducting disinfection, all while working tirelessly.

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Mobile Unit was assigned to commercial districts including Daewoo Animal Hospital and Honam Building Materials, where they continued recovery operations for extended periods. Hampyeong Police Station focused its efforts on residential areas along Jungang-gil, contributing to the restoration of heavily damaged neighborhoods.


The 8332nd military unit assisted with the recovery by providing supplies such as gloves, bottled water, and towels, and from 7 a.m. helped organize household goods and clean up in stores and homes around Cheonji Traditional Market. The Democratic Party of Korea divided its members into two teams of 30 people each to participate in the recovery activities.


Civic groups such as the Hampyeong County Volunteer Association, Hampyeong County Red Cross Volunteer Association, Saemaeul Association, Volunteer Fire Brigade, and Rotary Club also actively participated in on-site recovery and improvement of living conditions throughout Hampyeong-eup.


Lee Sangik, the governor of Hampyeong County, stated, "I sincerely thank everyone who has come together with one heart and mind to help our residents who are suffering from the heavy rain," and added, "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure swift recovery and to establish preventive measures in the future."
