Strengthening Public Safety Infrastructure and Security Systems
Busan Port Authority has significantly strengthened the port security system by replacing outdated CCTV cameras installed throughout Gamcheon Port with the latest equipment.
On August 5, Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) announced that it had completed a full replacement of CCTV cameras that had been in use for over 10 years within Gamcheon Port. Gamcheon Port, classified as a first-class national security facility, sees more than 10,000 vessels annually. This project was carried out as a proactive measure to enhance port security.
Since last year, BPA has been conducting a phased replacement over one year, covering all areas of Gamcheon Port, including the Central Pier, East Pier, and West Pier. The newly installed CCTV cameras are domestically produced products certified by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) of Korea. They are characterized by fundamentally blocking the possibility of information leakage, as well as significantly improved night surveillance, zoom capabilities, and durability compared to previous models.
Through this project, the authority has further strengthened both the security of Gamcheon Port and its public safety infrastructure. BPA has continuously worked to create an eco-friendly port by purifying floating waste around the piers and managing landscape waterways. The recent CCTV replacement marks a significant step in expanding the physical security infrastructure.
Song Sangkeun, President of BPA, emphasized, "This CCTV replacement is the starting point for establishing a surveillance system befitting a national security facility," adding, "We will reduce security blind spots and integrate advanced technology to create a safer port environment."
