Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (hereinafter referred to as Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on August 4 that Smart Savings Bank has donated 20 million KRW to support recovery efforts following the heavy rainfall damage in the Gwangju area.

The donation ceremony was held at the headquarters of Smart Savings Bank in Seo-gu, Gwangju, and was attended by Cho Sungyun, CEO of Smart Savings Bank, Koo Jaegil, Chairman of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae, and other executives and staff members. The donated funds will be used for the swift recovery of the Gwangju area, which suffered significant damage due to the recent record-breaking downpour, as well as for providing temporary housing and livelihood support to local residents, and for other emergency relief efforts to stabilize daily life.

In addition to the donation, Smart Savings Bank continues its social contribution activities by having its executives and employees directly participate in flood recovery efforts. The bank also takes the lead in community development through donations for youth and women.

Smart Savings Bank, which participated in this donation, was established in October 1972 in Gwangju and has been operating for over 50 years as a mid-sized savings bank. In 2021, its assets surpassed 1 trillion KRW.

Cho Sungyun, CEO, stated, "As a savings bank that has grown alongside the local community, we sincerely hope that our support will help local residents quickly return to their daily lives after the recent heavy rainfall," adding, "We decided to make this donation to continue being a financial institution that coexists with the community."

Koo Jaegil, Chairman, said, "This donation is a valuable act of sharing that will greatly help restore daily life," and expressed gratitude for Smart Savings Bank's proactive commitment to giving back.
