Attorney Yoo Junghwa, a member of former President Yoon's legal team, said, "The special prosecutor explained the circumstances in which former President Yoon refused to comply with the execution of the arrest warrant," and added, "They went so far as to describe his personal attire in detail, mentioning things like 'wearing only an undershirt and underwear,' and allowed such vulgar remarks to be disseminated through the media."
She further stated, "In which civilized country does a legal institution provide real-time explanations and commentary to reporters about a detainee's clothing in a cramped space where temperatures approach 40 degrees? This is not just a trivial incident. It is a public mockery of the suspect's dignity, a thorough trampling of his social honor, and, furthermore, a clear example of how the state can violate a detainee's human rights."
Attorney Yoo also said, "I am appalled by the conduct of the special prosecutor, who seems to boast about a detention environment where even the minimum human dignity is not guaranteed."
Earlier, Oh Junghui, deputy special prosecutor of the Kim Keonhee special prosecutor's team, stated at a regular briefing on this day, "Given that the subject of the arrest was a former president, we recommended voluntary compliance with the execution." She added, "However, the suspect firmly refused, lying on the floor without even wearing prison clothes." She then explained that former President Yoon was in his underwear at the time of the attempted execution.
