Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital and Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute Sign AI Medical Convergence Agreement

Joint Research Partnership in Medical Devices and Digital Healthcare

On July 31, Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital signed a three-party Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Soonchunhyang University and the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute at the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute to foster an "AI Medical Convergence Industry Ecosystem."

Key representatives from each institution attended the signing ceremony, including Min Kyungdae, Director of the Hospital; Song Byungkook, President of Soonchunhyang University; Jeon Changwan, Vice President for Research and Industry-Academia Cooperation; Moon Chuyeon, President of the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute; and Lee Jukyung, Director of the Digital Healthcare Center.


This agreement aims to establish a framework for mutual cooperation in several areas: collaboration on AI-based medical convergence research, joint research and development and the establishment of research systems, and joint planning and participation in new business ventures.


In particular, the parties plan to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of AI medical devices and digital healthcare, alongside the successful implementation of the Glocal University Project.


With its advanced technological capabilities in digital healthcare and AI·immersive media, the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute will serve as a key hub for the AI medical convergence ecosystem as a result of this agreement.


After the signing ceremony, a tour of the institute was held, during which researchers from the Digital Healthcare Research Center introduced major research projects and existing technologies, sharing the research infrastructure.


Min Kyungdae, Director of Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital, stated, "This agreement will strengthen our AI-based medical device capabilities, significantly improve the quality of regional medical services, and serve as an important stepping stone for building a medical convergence ecosystem that grows together with the local community."
