According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as of 6 a.m. on August 1, due to the influence of a low-pressure system moving northward over the West Sea, heavy rain is expected across Gyeonggi Province, including Gapyeong County, from the afternoon of August 3 until the night of August 6. In particular, in the northern area of Gapyeong County, torrential rain is forecast from the evening of August 3 to the morning of August 4, and again from the early morning to the afternoon of August 6.
Gapyeong County is already at high risk of landslides due to the previous heavy rain, and the structural stability of homes is also vulnerable, making careful preparation essential to prevent additional damage. Accordingly, the county has urged public officials to thoroughly inspect areas at risk of landslides, low-lying areas, riversides, campsites, and water recreation sites in advance. In addition, residents have been asked to actively cooperate by taking measures to prevent facility damage due to strong winds and gusts, and to familiarize themselves with swift evacuation procedures in case of emergency.
A Gapyeong County official stated, "Since there is a possibility of heavy rain starting from August 3, county office staff should thoroughly check landslide prevention measures, safety at campsites, and ensure that the resident evacuation guidance system is fully prepared for emergencies." The official also requested, "Residents should refrain from entering dangerous areas and cooperate actively by evacuating quickly in the event of an emergency to prevent any further damage."
