Over 60 Uijeongbu Officials Including Mayor Kim Donggeun Join Gapyeong Flood Recovery Efforts

On July 31, the city of Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) dispatched more than 60 people, including volunteers and city staff, to Gapyeong County to support rapid recovery efforts following significant damage caused by heavy rainfall.

The support team consisted of 30 volunteers, 22 city officials, 7 staff members from the Uijeongbu Volunteer Center, and 6 employees from the Uijeongbu branch of Nonghyup.

The team assisted recovery efforts in the Yulgil-ri area of Sangmyeon, Gapyeong County, by removing soil and debris that had been washed into farms and greenhouses, helping local farmers who were struggling due to a shortage of manpower.

Mayor Kim Donggeun said, "I deeply appreciate the volunteers and staff who have quietly devoted themselves to flood recovery efforts despite the heat wave," and added, "I hope this support will contribute, even in a small way, to helping the residents of Gapyeong return to their daily lives."

Previously, on July 22, the city provided 3,000 bottles of Hongboksan mineral water as emergency aid to Gapyeong County, and the Uijeongbu Saemaeul Association donated relief supplies worth 2 million won, demonstrating neighborly love. The city plans to continue cooperating with neighboring local governments through prompt response and solidarity in the event of future disasters.
