Song Eonseok Urges End to 'Bringing Yoon Into Convention,' Calls for Vision-Based Competition

"No More Yoon in the Party...
We Must Stop Competing Over the Past"

Song Eonseok, interim leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on August 1, "I hope that the wasteful and self-destructive act of dragging former President Yoon Sukyeol into the party convention will stop."

At the party's floor countermeasures meeting at the National Assembly on this day, Song said, "Former President Yoon no longer exists in our party," and added, "I hope we will stop clinging to the past and reviving painful wounds through competitions rooted in the past."

Song emphasized that this party convention is an 'innovation convention' and stressed the need for a competition of visions for the party's future.

He urged, "Unlike the Democratic Party, where candidates compete in an extreme contest over who can carry out political retaliation better, I hope we will show an appealing competition by presenting reasonable visions and agendas."

He continued, "This party convention should be one of unity and integration, where we respect each other and join forces," and called for restraint, saying, "Please refrain from excessive criticism, such as demanding fellow lawmakers and party members to leave the party."
