Offering Experiential Content Tailored for Children
'Jurassic World' Toy Pop-up Store Held in Suwon
On August 1, Starfield announced that it will be hosting a pop-up store featuring rare insects and animal characters to spark children’s curiosity during the summer vacation. The initiative aims to offer a “mallcation” (Mall+Vacation) experience, allowing families to enjoy a full day together in a comfortable indoor environment away from the summer heat.
At Starfield Suwon, an ecological experience pop-up store will be operated in collaboration with “Dahuk,” a prominent Korean exotic animal YouTuber with 1.02 million subscribers, until August 10. The event is designed to foster ecological sensitivity by allowing visitors to closely observe a variety of creatures that are rarely encountered, such as fireflies, reptiles, and amphibians. The main program, “Firefly Observation,” takes place daily from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in a darkroom.

Visitors can enjoy the mysterious flow of light created by hundreds of fireflies, accompanied by ecological commentary. The “Nighttime Stag Beetle Hunt” is an exploration experience where participants use lanterns to search for stag beetles hidden among the trees in the darkroom. Those who complete the mission within the time limit will receive commemorative merchandise.
In the “Mini Terrarium Class,” participants can freely arrange moss, wood, soil, and stones inside a glass jar to create their own miniature ecosystem. This activity is ideal for families, as it helps participants understand the balance of nature and provides a healing experience. Additionally, the event features an “Adoption Zone,” where visitors can observe rare reptiles and insects and receive adoption consultations. On August 9, YouTuber Dahuk will visit the venue in person to hold a surprise autograph session for young fans.
Starfield COEX Mall will also host a pop-up store until August 11 in collaboration with the popular IP brand “Wengeugigeu” (an abbreviation for “Drawing a Giraffe Picture with the Left Hand”), known for its witty and emotional style. Visitors can purchase giraffe T-shirts featuring the brand’s signature quirky line drawings and customize them with a variety of stickers. Those who buy a T-shirt can also participate in an event to engrave limited edition commemorative parts from the pop-up store at their desired location on the shirt. A photo zone capturing the unique humor of Wengeugigeu will be available, along with a game event where participants can win T-shirts by tossing rings around a giraffe’s neck.
A dinosaur-themed pop-up store will also be held at Starfield Suwon. From August 11 to August 20, in collaboration with toy and content company Youngtoys, a pop-up store themed after the movie “Jurassic World: New Beginning” will showcase licensed toys that faithfully replicate the features and vitality of the dinosaurs from the film. The “Quetzalcoatlus” figure, ruler of the skies with outstretched wings, will be unveiled for the first time in Korea at Starfield Suwon before its official release. New products such as “NEW T-Rex,” “NEW Spinosaurus,” and “Baby Aquilops Dolores” will also be available. With detailed skin textures, muscle expressions, and enhanced movement and sound features, these toys will offer children an immersive play experience.
