171 Cases Detected Through Intensive Crackdown Last Month
Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province has launched an initiative to eradicate illegal overnight parking by large vehicles such as trucks and buses.
On August 1, Ansan City announced that it had conducted intensive crackdowns on overnight parking outside designated garages throughout July, detecting 171 cases involving commercial large vehicles.

This intensive crackdown is part of the city's initiative to create a "clean city without illegal parking of large vehicles," which has been selected as a key municipal policy. To achieve this, the city established three temporary parking lots for large vehicles last year, and on July 1, an additional temporary parking lot was set up in Sadong, Sangnok-gu. The Sadong temporary parking lot has achieved a 100% utilization rate within just one month of operation.
Prior to the crackdown, the city operated a month-long intensive guidance period in June. The recent enforcement focused on 16 areas with frequent complaints, targeting commercial large vehicles parked illegally for more than one hour between midnight and 4 a.m. The crackdown was carried out a total of five times.
Lee Mingun, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "We will resolve the issue of illegal parking by establishing the 'Ansan-style win-win parking model,' which provides parking spaces for large vehicle drivers through the creation of temporary parking lots and ensures a safe traffic environment for citizens."
