Pocheon City Holds Completion Ceremony for Residents’ Autonomy School
Pledges to Strengthen Residents’ Autonomy Capabilities

Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on the 31st that it held the '2025 Residents’ Autonomy School Completion Ceremony' in the city hall's main conference room on the 30th.

The completion ceremony concluded the programs for four regions?Soheul, Gunnae, Ildong, and Yeongbuk?beginning with the leader and executive course that started on the 23rd. The event was organized to commend the graduates for their efforts and to reaffirm their commitment to future autonomy activities.


Mayor Baek Younghyeon of Pocheon and resident autonomy committee members from 14 towns and districts attended the ceremony to share the results of the Residents’ Autonomy School and to envision resident-led autonomy models. The event also included presentations of each region’s discussion outcomes and proposals for local issues and solutions identified by the residents themselves.


Kim Dokyeom, President of the Residents’ Autonomy Association, said, "It was a time to deeply contemplate and share ideas on a single topic," and added, "I hope the committee members will continue to share opinions and collaborate with local organizations to foster a growing resident autonomy."


Mayor Baek Younghyeon of Pocheon stated, "I am grateful to the resident autonomy committee members who are working hard to promote resident autonomy on the front lines," and expressed hope that "a resident-led local community will be created."


A Pocheon City official said, "Through this training, we confirmed residents’ efforts to recognize local issues and seek solutions," adding, "We will expand programs that can further strengthen residents’ autonomy capabilities."
