Jung Chungrae Calls Kim Moonsoo a "Traitor" Over Criticism of Lee Administration as Pro-North Korea and Anti-American

Jung Chungrae: "Factions Without Remorse Must Be Rooted Out"
Kim Moonsoo: "The South Korea-U.S. Alliance Is in Crisis, No Ambassadors in Either Country"

On July 30, Representative Jung Chungrae, who is running for the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, harshly criticized former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moonsoo?who is running for the leadership of the People Power Party?after Kim accused the Lee Jaemyung administration of taking an overtly pro-North Korea and anti-American stance. Jung shared an article containing Kim's remarks on his social media account, stating, "In a word, this is insane nonsense."

He continued, "Are you openly declaring yourself as part of a treasonous and traitorous faction and revealing your true colors? It is pathetic to brand key figures in the Republic of Korea as anti-American at such a critical time." He further criticized, "How does that help our national interest in any way? Not only are the key figures in the Lee Jaemyung administration not anti-American, but there is also no reason for them to promote anti-Americanism. There is no political benefit for you to gain from such reckless statements?have you lost your senses in the summer heat?" Jung went on to say, "Then what does your past as an activist even mean? There are things that should and should not be said?this is an outrageous remark. This is why treasonous factions must be disbanded. Shameless insurrectionists who do not reflect on themselves must be rooted out."

Kim Moonsoo: "The Lee administration is anti-American, pro-North Korea, pro-China, and anti-Japan"

Earlier that afternoon, candidate Kim visited the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and told reporters, "We have to negotiate tariffs with President Trump now. There are no summits, no ambassadors, and in this situation, I doubt ministers are able to make proper contact." He argued, "Not only in the United States, but also in Japan and Europe, everyone knows as common sense that the Lee Jaemyung administration is anti-American, pro-North Korea, pro-China, and anti-Japan."

He added, "How can peace in the Republic of Korea be maintained and economic development be possible under such circumstances? We are facing a serious crisis. The South Korea-U.S. alliance is in great danger. There are no summits, and both countries' ambassador posts are vacant. In this situation, the nominee for Minister of National Defense is appearing at the confirmation hearing and saying it is right to push for the transfer of wartime operational control from the U.S. to South Korea."

Furthermore, he said, "That is why, as soon as I finished registering as a candidate for party leader, I visited the War Memorial. This Republic of Korea, protected by the blood of many young people, will be made even greater. Here at the War Memorial, which commemorates the global alliance that stopped the invasion of Stalin and Kim Il-sung, I reflect once again on the Korean War. We must further strengthen the South Korea-U.S. alliance so that such a war never happens again."
