According to data from the Korea Meteorological Administration, the nationwide average temperature and average daily high temperature from July 1 to 29 were 27.0 degrees Celsius and 31.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. These are the second highest figures for July since 1973, following July 1994, which recorded 27.7 degrees and 33.1 degrees. The year 1973 serves as the baseline for various meteorological records due to the expansion of the national weather observation network.

The average daily low temperature for this month was 23.0 degrees Celsius, ranking third after 23.3 degrees in 1994 and 23.2 degrees in 2024.

So far this month, Seoul has experienced 21 tropical nights (nights when the minimum temperature does not fall below 25 degrees Celsius), tying the record set in 1994. This marks the highest number of tropical nights in July since 1908, a span of 117 years. It is almost certain that the night of July 30 to 31 will also be a tropical night in Seoul, which would make July 2025 the sole record holder for the most tropical nights in July.

July 31 is also expected to be extremely hot. The morning low is forecast to range from 22 to 28 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high from 31 to 37 degrees Celsius.

In most regions, the apparent temperature during the day will rise to around 35 degrees Celsius. The expected minimum and maximum temperatures for major cities are: Seoul 28 and 36 degrees, Incheon 28 and 33 degrees, Daejeon 26 and 36 degrees, Gwangju 26 and 35 degrees, Daegu 24 and 36 degrees, Ulsan 23 and 33 degrees, and Busan 26 and 32 degrees.

A hot and humid southeasterly wind will continue to blow, bringing rain to Jeju Island until the morning of July 31, and to northern Gyeonggi Province, the northwestern part of Gangwon Province, and the west coast of South Jeolla Province from dawn until the morning of July 31.

Expected precipitation is 5 to 20 millimeters for Jeju and the west coast of South Jeolla Province, and less than 5 millimeters for other areas. However, this rainfall is not expected to relieve the heat.

High waves caused by swells will continue to impact the coasts of Jeju, South Jeolla, and the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province. On July 31, strong winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour (9 to 16 meters per second) and waves of 1.5 to 4.0 meters are expected in the offshore areas of Jeju (excluding the northern offshore), the outer southeastern part of the South Sea, the southern offshore area of Jeju, and the southern offshore area of the southern West Sea until August 1.

Starting from the night of July 30, rough seas are also expected in the northern outer offshore area of the southern West Sea.
