Naju City in Jeollanam-do thoroughly reviewed 188 projects in the fields of construction, services, and goods procurement through its contract review system during the first half of 2025, resulting in a total budget saving of 709 million won. This contributed to enhancing the transparency and appropriateness of budget management.

The contract review system is a process that examines in advance whether cost estimates for various projects promoted by the city hall and its affiliated agencies are reasonable. This prevents unnecessary budget waste and appropriately adjusts project expenses.

Naju City explained that in the first half of this year, it achieved savings of approximately 630 million won in construction, 66 million won in services, and 13 million won in goods, totaling about 700 million won.

The review targets include construction projects of 100 million won or more, service contracts of 50 million won or more, goods and manufacturing purchases of 10 million won or more.

During the review process, if there were omissions or underestimations in the design, adjustments were made not only by simple reductions but also by reflecting on-site conditions and applying standard unit prices and Jeollanam-do's cost estimation standards to increase amounts as needed, ensuring safe and reliable construction.

To promote fiscal soundness and efficient budget execution, the city has continuously implemented various improvement activities such as job training during the first half of the year, strengthening prior consultations, conducting on-site review visits, and sharing best practices.

Mayor Yoon Byungtae of Naju stated, "We will continue to conduct effective contract reviews that prioritize quality and safety to enhance the reliability of budget execution," and added, "The saved budget will be allocated to major pending projects that citizens can directly benefit from."
