26 Sessions for Elementary Students Throughout August
No Tuition Fee, Only Material Costs Required
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) has organized a special experiential education program during the summer vacation, allowing children to get closer to the sea.
On July 30, Gijang County announced that it will offer a free "Summer Vacation Marine and Fisheries Experience and Education Special Lecture" for elementary school students, running from August 1 to August 29. The program will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, for a total of 26 sessions.
This program, which has continued steadily since 2019 as a vacation special lecture, will be conducted by expert instructors from the Fisheries Resources Research Center and the Busan Marine Natural History Museum. A total of six courses will be offered, including "The Talented Story of Shellfish," "Surviving in Antarctica," and "Confusing Giants of the Sea (Whales and Sharks)," all designed to spark interest in marine life and the marine environment.
Although there is no tuition fee, participants only need to pay a 5,000 won material fee to experience high-quality marine education content firsthand, and high participation from both parents and students is expected.
An official from the county stated, "We will continue to expand hands-on marine education programs so that children can become more familiar with the sea and marine life of Gijang."
Gijang County will operate a 'Summer Vacation Marine Fisheries Experience and Education Special Lecture' for elementary school students from August 1 to 29.
