Gijang County in Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok) will host the 21st Ilgwang Romantic Song Festival at Ilgwang Beach for three days, from August 1 to August 3.
This year marks the 21st edition of the event, a traditional amateur song festival named after the hit song "Regarding Romance" by Choi Baekho, a singer from Gijang. Individual participants and cultural clubs will take the stage to present emotionally resonant performances on summer nights.
The finals will be held on August 3, and winners of the Grand Prize, Gold Prize, and Popularity Award will receive cash prizes. Celebratory performances by guest singers such as An Somi and Jeong Miae are scheduled to further heighten the excitement. The closing ceremony will feature a fireworks display lasting over 10 minutes, completing the "romance of a midsummer night."
This year's song festival will be held in conjunction with the 27th Gijang Gaetmaeul Festival. A variety of hands-on programs, including bare-handed fish catching, net pulling, and family pebble hunting, are prepared, solidifying the event's status as a representative summer cultural festival for people of all ages.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "This Ilgwang Romantic Song Festival will be a special stage set against the cool sea," and added, "I hope many residents and tourists will visit to fully enjoy the romance of the summer sea."
