Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced on July 29 that the 'Sseudam Sseudam Night Market,' held on July 26 along Damidam-gil in Damyang-eup, attracted over 3,000 visitors despite the sweltering heat, making the event a great success.

The night market was organized to revitalize the local economy, which had been sluggish due to flood damage, and to provide new entertainment for residents and visitors on summer nights. In particular, planning companies that have operated specialized night markets in other regions and popular food vendors participated, drawing significant attention even before the event opened.

The county thoroughly prepared for the event so that the 'Sseudam Sseudam Night Market' could become a sustainable, signature local gourmet attraction rather than a one-off event. Efforts to differentiate the market included the development of a dedicated symbolic design (BI) and character, an exclusive website, an experiential space for children, multicultural specialty foods, 'metaverse archery' utilizing augmented reality (AR) technology, and a drama-themed parade.

In the food zone, where 14 mobile food trucks with permission for outdoor operation participated, a variety of foods such as handmade sausages, Vietnamese sandwiches, seafood pancakes, and Dakgangjeong were sold. Most items sold out quickly after opening, indicating a highly enthusiastic response. Visitors expressed high satisfaction as they participated in free events, unique food experiences, and craft workshops with artists at the venue.

Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "I hope this night market, organized to reinvigorate the local economy and tourism, has become a memorable summer night for residents and visitors. As another event is scheduled for August 2, I ask for your continued interest, and we will continue to develop the 'Sseudam Sseudam Night Market' into Damyang's signature stay-type night tourism content."
